Robert White has personally built and supervised the construction of well over 500 bridges throughout his career.

April 2015 to February 2016

Chartwell Consultants Ltd for Multiple projects.

Haida Gwaii

Slarkedus Dam upgrade, Skidegate: Represented the general contractor assisting with ordering supplies and co-coordinating activities with the owners representative, Klohn Crippen Berger. Duties also included surveying works using a total station.

Owners representative for the installation of two bridges on the South Morseby Main access road. Included with the on site Quality Assurance was the survey for the installation of two bridges using a total station.

South Coast

Installation of 3 BC Hydro access bridges on the Sunshine Coast: duties included quality assurance and survey.

Squamish Whistler: Prescriptions for 5 forestry bridge projects

Cogburn FSR: hands on assistance with the installation of a 27 meter bridge for Lakeside Pacific Logging. Duties included Suvey, steel assembly, Quality assurance and general logistics planning.

Terrace Kitimat Transmission Line

Site surveys for 8 bridge replacements.

South East Interior

Erickson Bridge replacement: Owners rep for BC Hydro for the installation of an access bridge located on the Teck Elkview mine site. Duties included survey and quality assurance.

Nov 2014 to Feb 2015

Nass River Bridge, 100kms Northeast of Terrace, BC

The removal of the existing 138 meter glulam beam structure and replacement with a steel concrete composite bridge.

The project was a design build project between Surespan and Associated Engineering and was a very technically challenging replacement.

Position: On site representative for Associated Engineering (BC) Ltd. as part of the design build team.

Nov 2013 to Oct 2014

La Biche River, Highway 63 North of Edmonton, Alberta

La Biche River bridge and approach works on Highway 63 North of Edmonton for Alberta Transportation.

Works included construction of a 40 meter, 2 lane precast concrete girder bridge found on cast in place drill piling.

Position: On site representative for Associated Engineering (Alberta) Ltd.

2012 / 2013

Saline Creek, Fort McMurray, Alberta

A complex project featuring the construction of a roadway bridge, pedestrian bridge, retaining walls and 3 km of roadway connecting Fort McMurray’s lower town site to the community of Waterways.

42 meter 4 lane road bridge, super elevated cast in place post tensioned voided deck structure bridge
62 meter horizontally curved, post tensioned, cast in place concrete box girder supported by a tilted 1.2 meter steel arch

Position: On site representative for Associated Engineering focused mainly on the bridges. Other duties included relief site representative on the road construction portion of the project.

2011

Willow Heart Bridge – Patuanak Saskatchewan

138 meter concrete steel composite bridge over the Churchill River.
Positions:
1. Associated Engineering on site rep. mainly brought in to assist with the pile driving challenges resulting from boulder obstructions at the pier locations.
2. Northstar Energy Services Inc. Superintendent in charge of bridge steel girder erection and concrete deck installation.

Kakisa River Pier demolition – Northwest Territories

This project involved the construction of a work bridge and coffer dam to facilitate the concrete pier removal.
Position – Associated Engineering on site rep.

Whistle Bend Subdivision – Whitehorse, Yukon

Position – Associated Engineering on site representative to assist the government inspectors to move a portion of the subdivision along to the next phase prior to freeze up.

2010

Saskatchewan 6 Bridges on Hwy 1

Position: Associated Engineering Ltd. and the Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure Site Representative.

This project was the replacement of six bridges on Highway #1 westbound and eastbound lanes over three Saskatchewan Minerals Inc. channels near Chaplin Saskatchewan.

This was a fast tracked project which was completed during a period of record breaking rainfall over 7 months. The project was completed within this extremely tight time frame.

2009

Dunvegan Bridge

Suspension span concrete deck replacement located 100 km north of Grande Prairie Alberta crossing the Peace River. This 1800 foot suspension span required the systematic removal of the concrete deck allowing for one lane of traffic to be maintained with minimal closures. Precast panels were  placed under very strict conditions to maintain the bridge integrity.

Position – Owner / Engineer representative. I was also brought in specifically to assist the contractor in moving this project foreword to meet schedule. My involvement with the contractor was well received and resulted in a higher level of partnering.  The bridge was opened to two lane traffic on schedule, Oct 31st 2009.

Bow Trail – Calgary, Alberta

Partial deck replacement on the 800 foot Bow Trail overpass accessing downtown Calgary. The removal of the top portion of concrete was accomplished using an innovative hydrodemolition technique. Due to the advanced state of the concrete deck deterioration, many issues arose requiring on going discussions and resolutions.

Coyote Creek

100 ft mine access bridge for Imperial Metals. Supervisor and hands on Bridge Building. Project located just South of Iskut in North West British Columbia.

Formula Contractor Ltd. – Dokie Wind Farm Chetwynd, BC

Access road bridges, hands on Supervisory position to replace 7 bridges

Bear Mountain Wind Farm

Short term Supervisory position for the installation of wind tower bases, working with Formula Contractors Ltd.

Knight Street Bridge – Vancouver, BC

Associated Engineering on site representative & Contract Supervision for Translink. The project involved a seismic upgrade and deck rehabilitation.
